CATEGORY
This is the most standard category, where performances are made using sounds produced solely from one’s body. A 4-minute showcase is held first in the preliminaries, and the top 8 advance to the final tournament. The final tournament is conducted in a face-to-face battle format, where each contestant gets two rounds of 90 seconds, and the winner advances.
In this category, two beatboxers form a tag team and perform together. The basic rules are similar to the solo category, but only the top 4 teams from the showcase advance to the tournament. Teamwork plays a key role in this category.
Performers use a device called a loop station to process sounds in real time. There is no showcase round like in the solo category. All rounds are conducted as face-to-face battles.
Teams of 3 to 5 beatboxers perform together in this category, competing with sounds that cannot be produced by a single person alone.
A new category introduced from GBB23 TOKYO. In addition to the loop station, performers can integrate their preferred devices. However, the underlying sound must originate from the mouth. Performances are given one by one in showcase format.
